Indigo Dye on Hatakami

While on an art retreat to Scotland, I visited a Sweet Paper Shop called Vintage Paper. Will, the shop owner, offered wonderful handmade paper from the Sitaula family in Nepal. These multi-generational craftsmen make a paper called Hatakami. Hatakami Paper is made from two types of fiber, Nepali Kozo and Mitsumata.

I am totally obsessed with Hatakami it is like a velvet and a paper fusion. It absorbs dye so beautifully. I am grateful to have come across this paper and have only begun to scratch the surface of creating work using Hatakami.
